Portland’s coziest corners

Ready to get cozy? Photo by Anna Almquist.

I’m a lover of nooks and crannies – and not just the ones that butter finds on a toasted English muffin.

Portland is full of so many cozy spots, and with the advent of cooler weather, what better Northwest activity than to find a small pocket of PDX where you can sink into that worn leather sofa, wrap your fingers around a steaming up of chai and pull out that book you’ve been meaning to read for months?

This week, I’ll be spotlighting places where you can go to seek the solitude that some crowded cafes just can’t provide.

As I’ve been growing more in my understanding of why it’s so vital to have moments of silence and stillness in your life, I’ve realized how out of the norm that is for our culture. Rarely do we praise those times when we sit down to reflect and process. Most often we run around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to win the gold medal for most errands done in 24 hours.

If only we lived our lives so that we would “be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him” Psalm 37:7.”

Maybe then we’d feel more at peace when we spend time listening to His voice, letting the cacophony of the chaotic world fall away as we find rest in His word.

I hope you enjoy this journey with me through these warm Portland places and that you, too, find calm in the spots where you can be refreshed.

** Check back each day to see where I’ve cozied up to next! **
